Today, the National Bureau of Non - Governmental Organisations (NGO Bureau) Executive Director Mr. Okello Stephen officially opened the country dialogue and consultation on the status of CSO effectiveness in Uganda towards the domestication of the Istanbul Prinicples at the Center for Basic Research in Kololo. The meeting is an avenue to discuss possible actions that partners can take to ensure domestication, adoption and implementation of the Istanbul principles.
In his remarks, the Executive Director stated that the " NGO Bureau associates with the benefits that accrue from engaging with the Istanbul principles that include; empowerment of communities, strong institutions, partnerships and public confidence."
The Istanbul principles inform CSO programs and partnerships across the board, they are rarely referenced by CSOs themselves. They are yet to become part of the framework used to secure CSO own effectiveness for themselves and demand an enabling environment from other development actors.
